After breakfast, a full day tour of Cairo, starting with the Cairo Archaeological Museum. We continue with the imposing Pyramids of Giza, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, and the Sphinx. Stop at the Papyrus and perfume workshops, lunch at a Cairo restaurant. We conclude today's tour with the bustling bazaar of Khan El Khalil. Rest of the day free. Overnight at our hotel.
After breakfast, a full day excursion to Alexandria, the city founded and lived by Alexander the Great. We will see the Greek Patriarchate, the Hellenistic community, the monument of St. We will visit the Hellenic community, the Hellenic Soldier's Monument, the house where the Greek poet Cavafy lived and wrote his last years and the unique gardens of Montaza surrounding the summer palace of the last King Farouk. Lunch at a restaurant in Alexandria and then we end up for a visit and internal tour of the new Library of Alexandria, a unique architectural achievement. Late afternoon return to Cairo. Overnight.
Breakfast and our day begins with the medieval fortress of Shatadel of Salah El Din and the alabaster mosque of Muhammad Ali as well as the mosque of Sultan Hassan, which was built between 1356 - 1360 and is one of the largest in the world. Immediately afterwards we will arrive in Old Cairo which is also associated with the Greek element. In the same area there is St. George's Church, the place where the Saint was imprisoned and martyred, the crypt of the patriarchs of Alexandria and the Greek cemetery of Cairo. It was also the site of Babylon in Egypt, where the Holy Family fled to save the Divine Infant from Herod's massacre. We will then visit the National Museum of Egyptian Culture (NMEC). The new home of the Pharaohs. The room that houses the royal mummies is designed to make the visitor feel as if they are in a real royal tomb. Even the inscription on the ceiling is the same as that of the original tombs and exhibits not only the mummies, but also all the objects found.
After breakfast and for those who wish to do so optionally, visit the ancient capital of Egypt Memphis, where we will admire the famous alabaster sphinx and the colossus of Ramses II. We continue with the necropolis of Saqqara, 42 km from the centre of Cairo. The necropolis of Saqqara is famous for the first pyramid built in Egypt, known as the stepped pyramid, which was designed and built by the genius architect Imhotep for King Zoser.
