24/08 SATURDAY : THESSALONIKI - ATHENS - CAIRO
Meeting at 12:30 at "Macedonia" airport in Thessaloniki and with an Aegean Airlines flight we depart for Cairo with a stopover in Athens. Arrival in Cairo at 19:20. Upon arrival, our representatives take care of the formalities and transfer to our hotel and settle in our rooms. Dinner. Overnight stay.
25/08 SUNDAY : CAIRO
Breakfast and departure to visit the Church of St. George the Trophy Bearer, a pilgrimage site for the Arab world, both Christian and Muslim. Here is also the Holy Cave where the Holy Family was hosted during their flight to Egypt. Then we will visit the Church of St. Nicholas, where the cell of St. Nektarios is located. Our next stop will be the Egyptian Museum of Culture. we will have lunch in a Cairo restaurant. Return to the hotel. Overnight stay.
26/08 MONDAY : CAIRO- ALEXANDRIA
Breakfast and departure for Alexandria, the beautiful capital of the Ptolemies. Arrival in Alexandria and panoramic tour - guided tour of the city. Crossing the coastal avenue (Cornish) we will visit the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate, the Cathedral of St. Savvas, the house of Cavafy (optional) and the site of the famous library. Lunch at a local restaurant. Transfer to the hotel. Settle in the rooms. Overnight stay.
27/08 TUESHDAY - SUEZ CANAL - SINA
Breakfast and departure for the Monastery of St. Catherine in the Theotokos Mount Sinai. We cross the Suez Canal underwater to cross from Africa to Asia. We continue past the Red Sea and passing through small towns we enter the heart of the Sinai Peninsula. Arrival in Sinai. Settling in the rooms. Dinner. Overnight stay.
28/08 WEDNESDAY : SINA
Very early in the morning we will attend the Divine Liturgy. Breakfast and free time in the monastery. Early in the afternoon attend the vespers. We will be guided by the Sinaitic Fathers inside the church, where we will venerate the Holy Relics of St. Catherine and receive the symbolic ring, admire the Byzantine icons, the sacred relics the well of Iothor, the burning and non-burning bush as well as the ossuary. Dinner. For those who are willing and able, an optional ascent to the Holy Peak on Mount Horeb, where Moses received the Ten Commandments (3-4 hours on foot). Riders should be equipped with a torch (if the climb is at night) and appropriate clothing (sports shoe - jacket). Overnight stay.
29/08 THURSDAY : SINA - CAIRO
Very early in the morning we will attend the Divine Liturgy. Breakfast and depart by road to Cairo. On the way we visit the nunnery of the Prophet Moses in Faran. Return to Cairo and check in at the hotel. Dinner. Overnight stay.
30/08 FRIDAY : CAIRO
Breakfast and tour of Cairo city. We will visit the Giza Plateau, where the pyramids of Cheops, Mycerinus, Chephrenus and the famous Sphinx, a depiction of Chephrenus in the body of a lion, are located. Visit to a scroll making workshop. Lunch at the Steigenberger Hotel 5*. Return to the hotel. Cruise on the Nile. Overnight stay.
31/08 SATURDAY : CAIRO - ATHENS - THESSALONIKI
Breakfast and departure from the hotel to visit the Acropolis of Kairos with the famous Saladin Mosque. Next stop is the bustling bazaar of Khan El Khalil. Overwhelmed with colors and intoxicating smells, Khan El Khalil Bazaar, as an authentic oriental bazaar reflects all the authenticity of the Egyptians. We will then conclude our tour of Egypt with a two-hour cruise on a floating restaurant with the majestic Cairo as a backdrop, where you will enjoy your lunch. Transfer to the airport where we depart for Thessaloniki with an Aegean Airlines flight at 20:15 with a stopover in Athens. Arrival in Thessaloniki at 00:25.
