Morocco
Morocco is a country in North Africa with a rich history and diverse culture. It is known for its beautiful landscapes, from the Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts to the Atlas Mountains and the Sahara deserts. Morocco's capital is Rabat, while the largest city is Casablanca.
History and Culture
Morocco has a long history that includes the ancient Phoenician and Roman periods, as well as the Arab conquest in the 7th century. Its cultural heritage is reflected in its music, art, architecture and cuisine. The traditional markets (souks) and medinas (old towns) are full of vibrancy and colour.
Sightseeing
Major attractions include the Medina of Marrakech, the Blue Village of Sheffsawen, the Kasbah Ait Ben Hadou and the city of Fez, home to the oldest university in the world, Al-Qarawin University. Morocco is also known for its excellent traditional hammams and riads (traditional Moroccan houses).
Geography
Morocco's geography is extremely diverse, with coastlines stretching for over 1800 km, mountain ranges such as the High Atlas, and large tracts of desert in the southern region. Visitors can enjoy activities such as hiking in the mountains, surfing on the coast and camel safaris in the Sahara.
